My friendship with Mike Greene at RS&T magazine gave me the great opportunity to fill in for a judge at the FIRST robotics competition in San Jose this year. The days were long, the giant blimp hanger was amazingly cold but the student builders were excellent. And the robots were inspiring. I even saw some fellow Robot Wars competitors there - Amy Sun and her team had fantastic entry. In between judging duties I had some brief chances to snap a few pictures. Every robot I saw excelled in its own way and I regret that I couldn't get pictures of them all (so its not like these are my favorites.)
